Peenemünde and total warfare

The new weapons programmes developed by Nazi Germany at its research centre in Peenemünde, in particular the A4/V2 strategic rocket, are indicative of the total warfare which would characterise the Second World War. One of mankind's oldest dreams, that of flying in space, turned into a nightmare, with the creation of devices using the highest level of technology, produced by concentration camp labour and deployed against civilian populations as part of a military campaign of a terrorist nature.
